Adventure Island Supports Beach Initiative Thursday, Mar. 02, 2017  Adventure Island is proud to be a supporter of the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach Leave Only Footprints Initiative. This new initiative is being undertaken by the cities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach and is an extremely positive effort for the safety, sustainability and marketability of our beaches.
Effective in 2016, the cities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach ask that you remove all your personal items from the beach one hour after sunset. They ask that you pack up your beach chairs, gather your beach toys, fold and carry out your tent, and recycle or throw away all your trash in a designated receptacle. All abandoned items will be removed for the protection of our beaches, local wildlife, and the many visitors we want to enjoy our clean coast for generations to come.
Based on Leave No Trace principles, this policy exists to ensure the health of our pristine white-sand beaches, the beachgoers who enjoy them, and the diverse wildlife that depends on them. Among other species, clean island practices protect the sea turtles nesting along the shores of the Gulf Coast from May through October.
